MINING
Phosphate, an element present in all living cells, is a key component of fertilizer and is heavily mined in central Florida, the Western Sahara desert, Morocco, and China. Abrasion-resistant and induction hardened pipe is utilized in the pumping of phosphate in slurry form from the excavation sites to the processing facilities.
When it comes to erosive ware, abrasion-resistant piping systems and components save money by lowering maintenance and repair costs and greatly extending replacement intervals.
For more severe wear, the preferred choice of many abrasion-resistant systems is Edgen Ultra 600. This Induction-hardened pipe exhibits a 600 I.D. brinell that transitions through the wall thickness. It can be cut and welded with proper procedures and typically lasts as much as 6 to 9 times as long as mild steel. In addition to Edgen Ultra 600, Edgen Murray’s extensive selection of induction-hardened products also includes:
- Straight spools
- Bands
- Laterals, tees and Wyes
- Reducers
- Customs Fabricators (manifolds, transitions, cleanout spools)
Edgen Murray also maintains a wide assortment of traditional fittings, flanges, weld rings and couplings – all backed by experienced, technical personnel, the latest manufacturing processes and worldwide product support.
- Large OD [18”; 20”; 22”; 24”] AR pipe – 100’ lengths
- Large OD [18”; 20”; 22”; 24”] IH pipe – 50‘ lengths
- A105 150# Forged Steel Flanges
- Fitting for the above pipe
The through hardened AR material ranges from 230-280 brinell and maintains significant ductility in the field. Edgen Murray is a complete AR resource center, capable of providing product in up to 100 ft lengths for:
- Mining (coal, phosphate, sand & aggregate)
- Cement
- Fossil fuel powers plants
- Pulp and paper
- Grain handling and transport
- Steel marking/foundries
